Life is full of surprises as we go about our journey. The past two years has brought about much loss and changes, yet blessings too. Anchored Studio is dedicated to my family and those who have supported me . As Anchor Studio grows you will see many more beautiful things as God reveals them.

About the author
Robert Connaway
I realized at a young age I had a creative yearning. This has followed through into my adult life. I majored in visual art at Flagler College. Upon earning my degree, I liked where I was living in Saint Augustine and stayed. Writing is an extension of my creativity. Stories create imagery. Incorporating paintings with my writing enriches the experience for the recipient.
The son of an artist who painted and sculpted, I found painting on canvas, the most rewarding.
I am a studio artist, as well as, a plein air painter. Walking around Saint Augustine you may find me painting a scene in the cool morning.
Incorporating people into my paintings, often times you will find my wife Cathy as my muse. I enjoy including a occasional cat, dog, and horse with a carriage.
Ocean views with dunes let my creativity expand, painting dramatic or stormy skies. We are honored to have him part of the gallery.

After already spending one full career as a fire suppression pilot, I now take advantage of my natural gifts and use them to help others uplift, enhance and truly transform your personal and/or professional space.
My environment-conscious creations are built from recycled materials and have been featured in public parks, multiple art galleries, and various publications. I feel the most accomplished when my work brings uplifted appreciation and enhancement to the personal environment around the people seeking me out, as well as to public spaces that can be appreciated by many.
Through my art and design, I can provide exponential improvements in your environment and open your eyes to new possibilities, whether it'll be indoor or outdoor, large or small, grand or subtle, and whether it’s for your personal nest, or for your entire social gathering space.
When I’m not designing, inventing, and/or creating various pieces, I can be found enjoying multiple environments; from up in the sky flying planes, to underwater, diving with sharks and other amazing and mysterious sea creatures, or occasionally silently allowing myself to see natural art forms occurring everywhere around us that couldn't be seen or wouldn't be noticed while being active

We are so excited to feature Sophie Dare. Here is a short bio about her.
began to get invitations to speak, sharing my art, and a message of hope through grief and loss. I shared our story in over 20 women's conferences and was featured in NE Florida galleries and Press from 2006-2010. While also working in various roles in marketing and communications, I became licensed with the largest Art dealer via the Furniture Market for my "Back Home" Farmhouse and Coastal works - art that stemmed from memories of my home state of NC.
I came home from work in 2022 to devote more time to my art practice, and now work from a studio in Orange Park, FL. I have continued my love of largescale murals by designing and coordinating over 6 different street murals in Clay County, but my studio time is focused on oils. I teach classes locally, and plan to devote 2025 to more Plein Air painting excursions.
It is my hope that my art continues to tell a story of the rich culture and history of the south - a celebration of the simple beauties found in nature, wildlife and everyday life.
Darla Donley: Our newest beautiful artist just arrived in the gallery!
Artist Biography
Darla Donley was born in Battle Creek, Michigan. She has lived all over the country and made Florida her home in 2016. She lives with her family in Palm Coast, Florida, but spends the majority of her time in St. Augustine.
Darla began her art journey in early 2014 when her husband signed them up for a painting class. By lunchtime, Darla knew she wanted to pursue painting and teaching art classes as a career.
Her art journey began with her certificate as a landscape instructor through the Bob Ross company. The Bob Ross technique was a great starting point, but she wanted more detail. She found Wilson Bickford. He was a wet-on-wet instructor in NY and had a PBS show. It is through Wilson Bickford’s Trained Teacher (instructor) program that Darla learned the art of palette knife painting.
In early 2017, a friend of Darla’s told her about a portrait artist, Valerie Stewart, that teaches classes all over the country. After researching Valerie Stewart, Darla got into her first portrait class in Florida in November 2017. Darla painted 5 days a week for 5 years to perfect her painting skills and continues to paint full-time.
Darla soon found Marion Dutton and became a painting partner. Darla also became a certified portrait instructor under Valerie Stewart in March 2019. She enjoys painting people and animals using realism techniques. She will be teaching people and pet portraits soon.
Darla’s paintings have been featured on the cover of the St. Augustine Entertainer magazine 16 times in 6 years.
Darla enjoys painting with a variety of techniques . . . portrait painting, traditional oil painting, finger painting, and palette knife painting.
Todd Lane is one of our artist for drawings and sculpting. Polymath artist. Come see his work here at the gallery. Artist's statement: Regardless of the medium, I believe it is only art which speaks truth that holds a lasting resonance with the viewer. Therefore, I do demand anatomical accuracy from my work. However, since art is an interpretation, I also believe my work is enhanced by incorporating a judicious degree of exaggeration. These are my goals.
Polymath Artist: I am an award-winning sculptor, illustrator, a former newspaper comic strip cartoonist and memoirist.
I received my formal art training at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. There I studied a myriad of disciplines to include: cartooning, illustration, drawing (all levels), advertising art, design, and sculpture. In addition, I studied human anatomy, physiology and kinesiology for 18 months which has benefited me enormously in giving life to my work.
Following art school, I served an extended seven year apprenticeship under master wildlife sculptor Bart Walter. I also studied under master sculptor Walter Matia for over one year and briefly under artist Phillip Ratner.
As a result of my years of formal training, professional understudy and consistent work, I have come to understand that creating fine art is fundamentally about developing the ability to see your subject–any subject –without preconceptions or bias. You will be unable to imbue your art with a true sense of life until you have learned to see in this way.
To do so, you must be consciously thinking about: shapes, distances (i.e. positive and negative space), mass, movement and symmetry as you sculpt or draw. Creating art is an ongoing exercise in problem identification and problem solving. Your completed work is the result of that process.

I’m a native New Yorker with many passions encompassing a multifaceted 40 year career in the salon /aesthetics and culinary industries and later in life working as a special needs
Paraprofessional and an Orton Gillingham Literacy Dyslexia specialist.
Shortly after relocating with my family five years ago to be near my mom a long time local, my husband passed. Reevaluating and praying for guidance, the Lord opened new doors and through them came a new love who endured the same loss, new friends in the art community and a whole new purpose. I’ve been immersing myself in painting; often using my son Alexs photography as inspiration.
I’ve exhibited at the Lightner Museum and donated for auction my unique oyster art for a local charity (Port in the Storm) a cause close to my heart.
I’ve also exhibited historical displays at the Historic Ximenez Fatio-House for their themed Mantles during the holiday seasons of 2023 and 2024.
I’m a proud member of both the St. Augustine Art Association as well as the North Shore Improvement Associations Art program in Vilano Beach.
I’m grateful for all my blessings and for every opportunity.

Pam Consolie- Bio
Born and raised in the Finger Lakes region of New York in the small town of Geneva, I met my husband in high school and we married in 1983. We were blessed with our two boys, Jack and Anthony, in 2000 and 2001, respectively. They are a constant source of pride and immense joy. Being a wife to my best friend and a mother to two great young men have been my greatest accomplishments. A year after graduating from The State University of New York at Geneseo with a major in educationand a minor in art, we moved to Georgia and settled in Stockbridge and then in McDonough, both suburbs of Atlanta. I worked for Henry County Schools in Georgia in several positions, ultimately serving as an elementary school Principalfor 17 years. During those years I continued my education culminating with a Doctorate from The University of Georgia. After working in schools for 30 years, I retired from Henry County Schools in 2017. Shortly after retiring, I began working part-time as a coach for new teachers and did this for three yearsuntil Covid changed everything.
In 2021, our family realized a long-held goal of moving to St. Augustine. Having spent countless vacations in St. Augustine over the years, we were finally able to make it our full-time home. After making the move, I found I had time to indulge my life-long interest in art, having studied art in both high school and college. I converted our pool house into an art studio where I happily spend countless hours creating. I enjoy working in a variety of mediums including acrylic painting, resin, coastal art, beading and jewelry making. Currently, I devote much of my time to working in acrylic paints and resin. I love the beach with its vibrant colors, beautiful marine creatures and plant life, and ever-changing moods. The beauty that surrounds me on a daily basis is a heavy influence on the art work that I do.
Along with art, I enjoy reading, crocheting, walking the beach, travel, all things Notre Dame (Go Irish!), and most of all, spending time with my family.

Painting for me is about finding that scene or still life or person that moves me to paint. The passion of the subject matterwhatever it is. The contrast of light and dark. It's all about the light for me really. Nature gives me so many beautiful scenes to try and capture and I hope the viewer of the painting can experience the same joy. It's a journey that takes me to constant challenges and different techniques. Often I found my greatest freedom to explore when I paint over old canvases realizing I have nothing else to lose so why not go for it or do something different.

Gene was born in Charleston, South Carolina and moved with his family to Fort Lauderdale, Florida at the age of 12. As a child and teen, art was always an important part of his life. While in high school he arranged his schedule so that he could take art class all four years. During this period, he won awards and contributed to his school’s literary magazine. At the urging of a high school art teacher, Gene entered a local college as an art major but after a year found himself pulled in a vastly different direction – computer and informational sciences. After graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in CIS, he embarked on a long and successful career in the information systems field. During this time Gene never lost his interest and desire to draw and paint and is now returning to this endeavor on a full-time basis.
Gene worked mainly in watercolors for much of his youth, but a couple of years ago he started working with oil, something not done since high school. His focus is mainly Florida landscapes but will not limit himself to any given area. Gene has lived in beautiful Oviedo, Florida for over 30 years with his wife Julie. Together they have two grown sons and two wonderful grandchildren.
